Walter O’Keefe Walter “Randy” O’Keefe has been chairman of the music department
and director of the high school bands for the Masconomet Regional School District since 1990.He earned his B.A. in Music Education from Ohio University in 1982 and his Master
in Music degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Notre Dame in 1987. He continued studies in Music Education
at the doctoral level at the Hartt School of Music.Mr.
O’Keefe has served as a trumpet adjudicator for the Northeast Junior Districts, the Ensemble Manager for the Massachusetts
All State Jazz Ensemble (1995) and the Concert Chairperson for the Massachusetts All State Music Festival (1998).Mr. O’Keefe has remained active as a trumpet performer.
He is currently principal trumpet in the Melrose Symphony Orchestra, principal trumpet and featured soloist for the 567th
Air National Guard Concert Band for the Northeast, and the principal trumpet for the Wakefield Repertory Theatre. He has also
performed with the North Shore Youth Symphony Orchestra (featured soloist), the Cape Ann Symphony, the Ipswich River Brass
Quintet, the Danversport Pops and the Gordon College Jazz Ensemble.
William Gray A
1988 graduate of Somerset High School in Somerset, MA, Mr. Gray entered the United States Army, graduating from the
Armed Forces School of Music in Norfolk, VA. He performed for three years with the 5th Infantry Division Band in
Fort Polk, LA playing many military and civilian functions including New Orleans’ Mardi Gras.After the Army, Mr. Gray entered Gordon College to study tuba and music education.
For four years he played tuba with the Gordon College Brass Quintet, performing throughout the United States and Canada.
Mr. Gray Graduated in 1996 with his Bachelors in Music Education.Since that time, Mr. Gray has taught throughout the North Shore, conducting ensembles in Ipswich, Triton Regional,
Middleton, Boxford and Pentucket Regional. Many of his ensembles and private students have played and participated in Northeast
District and All-State Festivals. Mr. Gray has studied with many fine teachers, to include Jerry Shaw and F. Chester Roberts.
Currently, Mr. Gray is working as a Brass Specialist
at Gordon College with Dr. David W. Rox. Most recently, he toured England and France performing at many venues including the
American Cemetery at Normandy Beach for the 60th Anniversary of D-Day. In addition to freelancing, Mr. Gray is
a founding member of The Pneuma Brass Quintet, performing throughout New England.Bill, his wife Charlotte, and their son Jacob currently live in Haverhill, MA.
Brian OCock Brian OCock has worked at Masconomet for the past ten years as an accompanist and choral director.
He also teaches voice in a classroom as well as private setting.Mr. OCock received a Bachelor of Music degree from Westminster College and a Master of Music degree from the
New England Conservatory of Music. He has also done additional study at the Boston Conservatory and the Hartt School of Music.
In addition to his work at Masconomet, Mr. OCock
teaches at Creative Arts in Reading. Mr. OCock has been the vocal director for the Wakefield Repertory
Theatre where he won awards for his chorus’ performances from EMACT (Eastern Massachusetts Association of Community
Theatres). Past performing experiences include the Banff Festival of Arts in Alberta, Canada, Sessione Senesi per la Musica
e l’Arte in Sienna, Italy and the Greenville Symphony in Greenville, Pennsylvania.
Mario Rosario Mario Rosario directs the 7th grade chorus, Sandpipers and Tribesmen, and the Ladies Chorus. He graduated
from Westfield State College in 1991 and received a Bachelor of Music Education degree with concentrations in guitar and voice.Mr. Rosario also composes music. Among his
compositions are “Missa Solemnis” (parts of which were performed at Masconomet), “Te Deum”, “Requiem,”
and “Pater Noster”. The Brockton Symphony Orchestra performed his “Missa Solemnis”.
He has performed with the S.M.U. Festival Chorus with Pope John Paul II in attendance. He has also performed with the
Westfield State College Chorale and the New Bedford Symphony Chorus. He taught at two other schools prior to Masconomet and
has performed at Carnegie Hall twice. In addition to his position at Masconomet, Mr. Rosario is the assistant director for
the Horrigan Music School in Whitman, Massachusetts.
Roger Brockelbank Roger Brockelbank
has headed the Masconomet percussion department for 20 years. A graduate of the University of Massachusetts,
Mr. Brockelbank earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in both Music Business and Jazz Performance. In addition to teaching privately, Mr. Brockelbank teaches
at several area schools, including The Governor’s Academy in Byfield, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Spofford Pond in Boxford,
and Proctor School in Topsfield. Mr. Brockelbank also performs and records with a wide variety of local
musicians. Mr. Brockelbank’s experience with all aspects of musical training and performances help
shape his innovative teaching style. It is his passion for music that has brought so much excitement to
the percussion section at Masconomet.
Jill Hasselbacher A transplant from the Midwest, Ms. Hasselbacher
came to New England to perform at the Mt. Washington Hotel and Resort in Bretton Woods,
NH and now resides in Bradford. A graduate of Marycrest University in
Davenport, IA, Ms. Hasselbacher has an instrumental and vocal music background as well as extensive experience acting,
directing, and music directing.Ms. Hasselbacher
has performed professionally and semi-professionally in over 60 productions around the Boston area. She
also has been employed as a vocal/drama instructor for several local organizations, most recently for the S.E.A.A.R.T.S.
program in Seabrook, NH. Ms. Hasselbacher has served as Musical Director at The Amesbury Playhouse in Amesbury,
MA. During the 1990s, Ms. Hasselbacher was Music Director and then Director for the St. Patrick’s
Youth Theatre in Lawrence, MA. She also has been a pit musician at The Amesbury Playhouse and at The Firehouse Center in Newburyport.
